RIBA Chartered Practice

About Us

Green and Teggin Architects was set up in 2010, and consists of a husband and wife team who had already been working together for five years. We have over twenty eight years joint experience working on a range of residential, educational and commercial projects in London and across the UK.

We strive to uphold a clarity of purpose, a high level of craft and tenacious attention to detail in all the projects we are involved in. We are interested in enhancing places, optimising space and optimising budgets. We do this through a synthesis of appropriate technology, sensible and sensitive attitudes to conservation, and through developing and realising our clients’ aesthetic ideas and values.

Green and Teggin is an RIBA Chartered Practice, both directors are Chartered Architects and are registered with the Architects Registration Board. Jacqueline is listed on the RIBA Conservation Register, and Thomas is a Certified PassivHaus Designer.

Our Practice

Most of our projects are small residential extensions for first time clients. We believe a carefully considered brief is the basis for a successful project; we listen carefully to our clients’ ideas and evaluate the way they wish to use their space, we pride ourselves on providing a service appropriate to their needs and budgets.

We have high architectural aspirations, and apply these to any size of project. We believe that the simplest project can be considered architecture if it provides “commodity, firmness and delight“, good architecture however must also be political and social; it must promote situations and emergent behaviour. Great architecture is completed by the user, it improves with age, use and adaption.

Our Skills

We believe in our own and each other’s abilities. As a team we have complementary skills to bring to the various stages and aspects of our projects.

Jacqueline generally provides the front-end brief development and design during the early stages. She has a track record of successful negotiations with planners and achieving consent for schemes that push the boundaries of planning policy. Jacqueline also keeps abreast of the progress of projects in the latter stages to ensure the original aims are not diluted.

Thomas provides a foil, a second opinion, technical and back up and design critique during the early stages, and a safe pair of hands to guide projects through to completion.

We prefer to sketch and draw by hand, we can produce design iterations quickly and we find clients, planners and builders much more receptive to soft line drawings. We are able to complement this with 3D computer visualisations, CAD technical drawings, specification writing and energy and financial calculations where required.

Added Value

We are very concerned with making the best use of a client’s budget, we also have plenty of first hand experience of the trauma involved in construction work on your own home, and we seek to minimise the disruption a building project can cause. We are happy to advise on space saving ideas and will attempt to persuade a client to reduce the scope of a scheme where we feel this is appropriate, sometimes eliminating the need for costly building work altogether.
